Digital Awareness, Empowerment and Storytelling Training

The Scalabrini Institute for Human Mobility in Africa (SIHMA), in conjunction with the ICT4D Collective, Royal Holloway University of London, and STEPS, hosts a training programme geared at equipping migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers with digital literacy and storytelling skills to help them navigate online spaces safely and share their own narratives. The programme is made up of various topics deemed appropriate to build digital competence and awareness around migration issues, delivered over six days in two phases in the Southern African context.

  • Setting Up Accounts and Profiles
  • Introduction to AI for Content Creation
  • Basics of Video Production
  • Storyboarding and Scripting
  • Filming and Editing Techniques

  • Developing Short Videos on Migration Experiences and Themes
