A new year... and a new colleague!
2020 has officially begun, and we wish everyone a very happy new year! At SIHMA, we are all back to work and have exciting plans for the coming year. Joining us this year is our brand-new Project Manager, James Chapman. He will be in charge of the many projects currently starting up at SIHMA, including research on a variety of migration-related topics.
James used to work as the senior attorney at the University of Cape Town refugee rights unit, primarily in Advocacy and Training and Strategic litigation, heading these sections within the Unit. He is also a member of the International Association of Refugee and Migration Judges. James was born and raised in Zimbabwe, plays volleyball at a club level, ultimate frisbee and squash, and is lay-minister at his home parish.
He hopes to teach, train and empower leaders in the migration space with a focus on bringing research outputs at SIHMA and more broadly to benefit people at a community level. We have no doubt he will fit in greatly here at SIHMA.
We are expecting great things of this year, and look towards a bright future.
